Electronic Music Studios (EMS) | Vocoder 5000 |
Description | The EMS Vocoder 5000 is still available for order and considered the most detailed of vocoders ever produced. It could split sounds into their component frequencies and re-synthesise them. Its has 22 band analysis and synthesis sections which can accurately superimpose the spectral content of one signal upon another. By use of the pin matrix it is possible to transmute the sex and age of the voice that is input into the unit. With it's two oscillators taken from the EMS VCS3 synthesizers on board its a synthesizer all on its own. Some found it difficult to use but to this day is still a highly desirable unit to use. Specs: 22 x 22 pin matrix for patching analysis section to synthesis section Pitch Extractor produces a CV proportional to an incoming audio signal Noise source with "colour" control 2 internal VCO's for excitation source Voiced/Un-voiced detector Voltage Controlled "Slew and Freeze" function Frequency Shifter Keyboard Oscilloscope interface 20kg weight! |

Velocity | As with a piano, the harder you hit a key, the louder the sound, unlike most organs which always produce the same loudness no matter how hard you hit a key. | Aftertouch | Pressing a key after you activated it. Channel Aftertouch, no matter which key, it will send a Channel message. Poly Aftertouch, sends the pressure per key instead of the whole channel. |
Values for OSC, LFO, Filter, Envelope are per voice unless stated otherwise. |
